A s the tittle says a quick and easy crab preparation in Kerala style.

Ingredients
  • 500g soft shell crabs
  • ½ tsp of turmeric
  • ½ tsp of slat
  • 2 cups of water
  • Bring water to rolling boil. Add turmeric ,salt and crabs. Cook for 10 - 15 mts.
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 3 garlic minced
  • a small piece of ginger minced
  • 1 tomato cubed
  • 2 stems of curry leaves
  • 2 table spoons of oil ( preferably coconut oil )
  • ¼ tsp salt ( I'm using coarse sea salt )
  • Dry powdered spices:
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander power
  • 1 tsp meat masala powder
  • 1 table spoon of crushed black pepper
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pan and add ½ the black pepper, garlic, ginger and onion.
  2. Saute it till its soft.
  3. Add in the curry leaves.
  4. Lower the heat and add the dry spices and fry the spices till the pungent smell is gone.
  5. Add in the cooked crab, cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the remaining crushed black pepper,tomatoes and take it off the heat and serve.
  7. It's best to serve immediately.
  8. Notes :
  9. Be carefull not to burn the powdered spices. If in doubt mix all the spices and add ½ cup of water and add to the pan.
