A very simple and tasty breakfast for all. You can make it spicier by adding turmeric and chilli powder to this dish.

Ingredients:

  • Red /White flattened rice – 1 cup

  • Onion – 1 (small, chopped)
  • Ginger chopped – 1 tsp
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Fresh grated coconut – 1/2 cup

  • UdadĀ dal – 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Channa dal – 2 tsp (optional)
  • Red dry chilli – 1 (tear in to small pieces)
  • Curry leaves – 1 stem
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Water – 1/4 cup
  • Salt – 1/4 tsp

Method:

  1. Take the flattened rice in a bowl and sprinkle some water and mix it. Keep it aside for 5 mts.
  2. After 5 mts sprinkle some more water and keep it aside.
  3. Keep a deep pan/wok on fire and when the pan is heated up add oil and both the dals.
  4. Fry the dal tillĀ its nutty.
  5. Add in the red dry chilli and curry leaves at this stage.
  6. Now you can add all the chopped ingredients and saute till its soft.

  8. Add the flattened rice, grated coconut and salt.
  9. Sprinkle some more water and cover the pan with a lid and cook for 2 minutes.
  10. Since the flattened rice is already cooked you can serve it once everything is combined.
