Hummus is an Arabic dish usually served with flat bread, like pita, or as an accompaniment to falafel, grilled chicken or as a dip.
It’s made with simple ingredients which is rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals. My favourite is to have it with crunchy vegetables and crackers.
In this recipe I’ve not added tahini sauce which is sesame seeds paste. If you want you can toast 1 table spoon of sesame seeds and add to the recipe. Another twist to this recipe is to add 2 table spoon yogurt. Try different variations and see which one is your family’s favourite ! 🙂
I feel olive oil, chickpeas and lemon juice gives you that authentic flavour and the rest is up to your personal taste.
Preparation time : 10 mts
Serves : 4
Ingredients :
- 1 can of cooked chickpeas ( I’ve used 1/2 cup dry chickpeas, which is soaked in water overnight and cooked)
- 1 clove of garlic
- juice of 1 lemon ( do not substitute it with lime juice. It changes the whole flavour)
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder ( optional )
- 2 table spoons Extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 tsp salt
In a blender, add all the ingredients and blend to buttery consistency and enjoy !
