This is a kids friendly recipe to make kids eat okra. Okra is considered to be good for memory power. 🙂

Preparation time : 10 mts

Cooing time : 10 mts

Serves : 4

Ingredients :

  • Okra (ladies fingers) – 250 g
  • Oil – 3 tsp
  • Green chili – 3 (sliced in the middle) Optional
  • Curd/Plain yogurt – 1 cup (Greek yogurt is the best)

Ingredients for the paste:

  • Fresh coconut – 1/2 cup
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Black mustard -1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli – 2 (optional)

Ingredients for tempering:

  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Black mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Red dry chilli / chilli flakes – 3 nos/ 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves – few leaves

Method:

  1. Wash and cut the okra in to small pieces (round).
  2. In a heated pan add oil and fry the okra , be careful not to burn it.
  3. Grind all the ingredients for the paste to a fine consistency.
  4. In a clean bowl add the fried okra, curd and the coconut paste and mix well. Keep in mind not to have any lumps.

  6. In a heated pan (you can use the same pan in which you fried the okra) add oil and mustard seeds. When the seeds starts to splutter add in the chillies and the curry leaves and pour it over the okra. Immediately cover the bowl for a few minutes. You can mix the tempering to the okra and serve.

Notes:

  • Mix it with 2 cups of cooked white rice and enjoy like thairsadam ! 🙂
