You can have jam guilt free without compromising on your waistline ! ­čÖé .. ┬áSince pineapple is naturally sweet you can reduce the sugar according to your preference. Here I’m using only half the amount of recommended sugar. Since there is no preservatives added you’ll have to keep this in fridge once opened.

Quantity : 2 jam bottles

Ingredients :

  • Pineapple (preferably honey pineapple) – 1 (skinned and cut into chunks)
  • Sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Cinnamon/cardamom powder (according to preference) – 1/4 tsp (optional)

Method:

  1. Sterilize the bottles in which you are planning to store jam.
  2. In a blender add all the pinapple cubes and blend it.
  3. Do not grind it very smooth.
  4. In a pan add these blended pineapple and sugar and cook it in low fire.
  5. Stir occasionally.
  6. Add in the desired spices. You can prepare it without any spices too.
  7. When the mixture starts to darken in colour and to thicken check it to see if the consistency is correct.
  8. For checking that pour the jam into saucer and tilt the saucer slightly. If the jam is only slowly running without dropping, you can take the jam off the flame.
  9. Allow it to cool in the room temperature.
  10. When the jam is perfectly cooled pour it into the sterilised jar and cover it tightly.
