When your kids says they are hungry in between meals or when you crave for something spicy, this recipe comes in handy.

Ingredients :

  • 3 slices of Wholemeal bread
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1/2″ ginger chopped
  • 1 green chilli slices (de-seeded,only for flavour)
  • 1 stem curry leaves
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 table spoon of full cream milk
  • 1 table spoon chopped coriander leaves ( optional )

Dry powdered spices:

  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder

Ingredients for tempering :

  • 2 table spoon coconut oil
  • 1/4 tsp black mustard seeds
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 1/2 tsp udad dal ( optional)
  • few almonds /cashew nuts / peanuts

Method :

  • In a hot pan add oil and when the oil heats up add ingredients for tempering and allow the mustard seeds to splutter.

  • Add in the chopped onions, ginger and chilli along with the curry leaves and saute till its soft.

  • Add in the chopped tomatoes and salt and saute further.

  • Add in the dry powdered spices and saute till the tomatoes disintegrate.

  • Add the bread pieces and mix carefully.

  • Pour the milk and and lower the fire. Do not keep on mixing after adding the milk. The uppumav will turn mushy. Fry the bread on low fire for few seconds to give crunch to the bread.
